As an educator, parent, and writer, Kristen has always found that there is a lack of opportunities in our area to develop the craft of writing for kids (and adults). Stemming from her Master of Arts degree in Teaching English and her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from SUNY Cortland, she developed a love for teaching, which enriched her love for writing.
When Kristen was hired as an elementary teacher for JPII Academy, she determined one of her long-term objectives was to encourage students to love writing, reading, and public speaking. Therefore, she decided after reading a classic piece of literature, to create a 15-20 minute play for the students to perform. The students have loved performing plays for the last 3 years.
Besides her love for teaching, Kristen enhanced her editing and writing skills by becoming an intern for an online magazine at SUNY Cortland, and one of her poems was performed by
The Absolute Dance Company.
Kristen is excited to be leading this workshop and doing something she is passionate about!
